Tri-ing to Raise Money with Team Glutes Engage
As it turns out, I'm not the only one who's thought of raising money for a good cause through athletics. Check out my latest endeavor...
Team Glutes Engage - A group of friends and I "Tri-ing" to raise money for Stroke Prevention and Brain Injury Research by swimming, biking and running in the Rookie Triathlon this May 10th.

Hi everyone and welcome to Project Crazy Legs at Schmulen.com!
Well, what can I say to all of you but THANK YOU. Thank you for your donations and thank you for your support. I'm floored but flattered to announce that you all managed to raise over $5000 for the National Brain Tumor Foundation!! That's just incredible. I think it's more than fair to say that Your accomplishment far outweighs mine. All I did was run for a few hours. In the end it's Your effort that will have made the real difference.
That said, the marathon was a hell of a race for me. Two weeks before the race I came down with bronchitis (yeah... Bronchitis!) which put me completely out of commission for about 5 day (high fever, tight lungs, the works). So, exactly 1 week before the race I wasn't sure if I would even be running. However, I recovered quickly and my practice runs the week of felt good, so I decided to go for it.
With all of you as my mental support, Doug and Silvia meeting me every five miles for food, water, and side-line support, Jason and other friends running alongside me and my parents waiting for me at the finish line, I knew I could do it.

In May of 2007 my Dad, Jim Schmulen, was diagnosed with a grade 4 astrocytoma brain tumor, also known as a glioblastoma multiforme, the most aggressive type of primary brain tumor. After
2 surgeries, radiation treatment and 9 months of
chemotherapy I'm happy to say he's doing really well... but the fight is far from over.
Last July some friends and I started training to run our first ever marathon in Austin, TX on February 17th, 2008 - something we dubbed "Project Crazy Legs". After a couple of months of training I put 2 and 2 together and thought what better way to show support for my Dad's
struggle than to help raise money for brain cancer research and the people fighting it. So, I'm asking for you, my friends, my family, and anyone else that
happens across this page to donate to the National Brain Tumor Foundation... to give us motivation in running our first marathon, to give encouragement to Dad
in his fight against brain cancer, and to give hope to all those the money will go to
help.
All you have to do is click on one of the DONATE links and you'll be taken to my donation page - where you can give immediately and simply.
Donations of any size are greatly welcomed and appreciated. And, come February 17th, regardless of the final tally, we're going to run like the wind!
Thanks for your help, love and support,
Jeff (and the rest of the Schmulen Family and Project Crazy Legs Team)
